Give Kids a Smile February 4, 2011

Give Kids a smile is an event that takes place each year on the first Friday in February, thousands of local and national dentists and their dental team members provide free oral health care services to children from low-income families across the country.

Pictured with Dr. Larkin is the winner of our college football contest. This Patient knew all 15 college football States and mascots and won a Target gift card. Awesome Job!

2010 Valentines Day Contest

  For our valentines day contest we had a jar filled with Sweetheart candies. The Patient that guessed closest to the right amount  won a gift card to the Beacon movie theater. The right amount was 1,212!  Way to go!

Below are some great recipes from "The Braces Cookbook": Recipes You and Your Orthodontics Will Love by Pamela and Brenda Waterman. You can view more by going to www.bracescookbook.com or reading a copy in our waiting room.

"TWISTY SOFT PRETZELS"
INGREDIENTS:
            *3/4 cup of warm water
       *1/2 envelope yeast
 *1 teaspoon salt
              *2 cups all-purpose flour
          *1 Teaspoon of sugar
*1 egg beaten
                               *Pinches of salt or cinnamon-sugar

DIRECTIONS:
*Preheat oven to 425'
* In a small bowl, stir together warm water, yeast and sugar
* In a large mixing bowl, mix salt and flour with a large spoon. After 5 minutes, stir yeast mix into flour mix. With well-floured hands, shape dough into 6-inch rods, initials, animals or tradional twisted pretzel shapes.
* Brush with the beaten egg and place on a greased cookie sheet.
* If desired, sprinkle with extra salt or cinnamon-sugar.
* Bake for 12 minutes at 425 degrees

"Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies"

       INGREDIENTS:                
*3/4 cup shortening
     *3/4 cup peanut butter
*1 cup brown sugar, packed
*2 eggs
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
*1/2 teaspoon vanilla
*1/2 cup warm water
*1 teaspoon baking soda
* 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
*about 50 Hershey's chocolate kisses

DIRECTIONS:
*Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 11 minutes.
*In a large bowl, combine shortening, peanut butter, and brown sugar, using an electric mixer. Add eggs, salt, and vanilla and beat until creamy. In a small bowl or measuring cup, stir the baking soda into the warm water; add water mixture to the peanut butter mixture alternately with the flour until well blended.
*Drop by tablespoons onto greased cookie sheets. Bake for 11 minutes at 350 degrees. While they are baking, unwrap the foil from the kisses. As soon as the cookies come out of the oven "kiss" them. Makes four dozen. Store in a covered container.

Everybody is a  winner!!!! We have an Easter Basket with plastic eggs that the patients can pick from...every egg has something in them but only a few have a special prize. $50.00 gift card to Wal-mart and this patient was one of the lucky people to have picked that special egg!!!!

A Taste Of Warner Business Expo

Sherry, Rebecca, Donna and Jenn went to Warner Christain and set-up a booth showing what we do. The booths all belonged to parents of Warners students. We handed out toothbrushes, coloring pages, and held a raffle to win a Oral-B battery operated tooth brush.


2008 Christmas Parade

We put together a float for Christmas!!!! Dr. Larkin drove the float and the staff handed out candy. The theme of our float was all sea creatures, from Sea Horses to Clams.


Halloween

All of us dressed up and handed out toothpaste and toothbrushes to all the kids.
